The SpeechWare MikeAdapter is a basic half-duplex USB audio adapter for microphones with 3.5mm earphone and/or microphone plugs. Its most common use is to allow microphone input via USB into older Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs for use with speech recognition applications such as Dragon Professional.
The design of this device pre-dates Windows 10. The SpeechWare MikeAdapter is not recommended for use with Windows 10 or with telephony applications such as Skype that require full-duplex communication. The SpeechWare USB MultiAdapter provides excellent full-duplex sound in Windows 10 environments.
